the genius called AR Rahman

In India, we are blessed with music. Traditionally, we have a song for every event in our lives...for when we are born, when we get married and even when we die. For anyone who has seen a bollywood movie, you can see we love our music and insert a song wherever we can. Music is what enriches our soul and keeps us going. We are also blessed with a wide range of musicians and geniuses like AR Rahman.I fell in love with his music many years ago listening to his music from Roja.

Listen to his latest foray from 127 days...sublime...

elephants!

Come on! Admit it! We all love elephants and I am sure we once fantasised about having them as pets. I sure did! They are wonderful creatures even if it might be hard to fit them into your house and feed them mountains of food....But that doesnt stop evelyn evelyn from making this wonderful song!

designs in alcohol?

Have you ever wondered what your alcoholic drinks look like under the microscope? I am guessing, maybe not, if you aren't a nerd like me! But, after looking at these pictures, maybe you will start wondering how everything looks under the microscope?

childhood memories

We all have those iconic childhood photos that we love. Wouldn't it be nice if we re-enacted them? Here is a wonderful idea by a photographer for exactly the same thing. I can feel multiple photo shoots coming up this summer :)

Favourite Companion

Have you ever had a favourite companion? Even if he was not yours...that little puppy, cat or even a hamster? Well, for me it has always been Nero. A beautiful and wise black labrador cross who belongs to my best friend. I always seem to melt in his presence and have wonderful cuddle sessions with him. It must be true love for sure! This is why I love Nellie McKay's wonderful dog song!

Underwater love

I am very privileged to study this beautiful sea ice habitat in Antarctica. It truly is amazing and very few of us will get a chance to see it. However, here is a video taken at arrival heights:)

There was also a really cool observation tube put into the ice this last summer season at McMurdo Station. I had to tear myself away from there to let others have a view. Here are some photos..

how adorable are these guys??

I have to confess that I am a nerd of the highest order. I live to do biology and get excited by seeing pollen grains growing out a little tube under the microscope :) I can assure you my students think I am a hopeless case when I do so. But, having said this, these tenrecs are seriously adorable! Dont you love little hedgehog-like creatures!

For the love of dancing

This beautifully shot video is a reminder to all of us that make up excuses not to have time to dance....If you love to dance, there is always a way!

Wouldnt it be nice if we had no borders..pangea anyone?

This amazing project is to promote a world with less borders. They have come up with some inspirational videos like the one where kenyans sing the indian anthem. Makes you get goose flesh!

Working in the Antarctic

Here's a beautiful glimpse of working down south. Makes me realize I need to sort through the hundreds of photographs that I took as well! Keep a look out for those!
