Markets

Ever had trouble getting to the market or cant be bothered fighting the hordes of people but still prefer it to the supermarket? Ever had the trouble of working in a place where lunch time food was limited or over-priced? If you live in the greater wellington region, this could be the answer for you! Only stumbled across it today and can see myself using it this winter when its a wet sunday morning and I cant be bothered getting to the markets.

J.Krishnamurti

Thought

All that we have invented,
the symbols and
the rituals in the church,
they are all put there by thought.

Thought has invented these things.
invented the savior,
invented the temples in India
and the contents of the temples.

Thought has invented all
these things called sacred.
You cannot deny that.
So thought in itself is not sacred.

And when thought invents god,
god is not sacred
So, what is sacred?

That can only be understood
or happen when there is complete freedom,
from fear, from sorrow,
and when there is this
sense of love
and compassion
with its own intelligence.

Then , when the mind
is utterly still,
that which is sacred
can take place.

Love museums?

Isn't it frustrating when you are travelling and you want to see all the museums in a city but you never have the time to do it all? Even when you get to the museum, there are some pieces that have too many people around them or are far too secure for you to have a close look. Take a look at Google's wonderful art project! Love it!

Let art turn the world inside out

I am sure you have all noticed that I am a huge fan of TED. I just watched the wish of the new recipient of the TED prize and his wish and am completely inspired by it!

Cannot wait to be a part of it! What a wonderful way to be a part of a global art project and to change people's perception just through an image!

for the runners amongst us...

Did you know about the Tarahumara tribe from Mexico? They are this incredible tribe who managed to survive the spanish invaders and hid in the copper canyons to preserve their traditions. They are known for their long distance running abilities that even those in their old age can sustain. Here's an intriguing talk on TED about whether we were born to run...

rangoli

I am sure many of you have seen this kind of art form but might not know what it was called. Some call it rangoli, some call it kolam, and some call it alpana....whichever the name is, it is an intimate art form practiced by many women all over India. It is a sign of religious and spiritual beliefs and is made fresh every morning after the front of your house has been cleaned fresh. I have fond memories of making rangoli with my grandmother in those summer months. Here's a beautiful example...
